Ceramic wall hanging, 15W x20 D inch.
This raku-fired ceramic piece has lots of movement and texture, as well of several symbolic figurative additions to it. It was made out of clay, fired, then glazed, raku-fired and handfinished which gave it a very distinct and unique look.
There's a snake, a lizard, a moth and a smaller figure latching on to the side of the larger figure.
Symbols and archetypes are alive and changing, but here are some thoughts; the female figure could be seen as emerging or dissolving into the movement around her, made up out of it, and interchanging with it. The movement can be seen as representing energy, emotion, chaos and/or the nature of being.
The snake and lizard can be seen as a reminder of the primary nature or the limbic system, and the moth as a symbol of transformation, honoring both the light and the dark.
